The importance of intangibles

So often when an estate plan is drafted, you sit down with your lawyer or financial advisor and focus on the tangibles – your investments, cash, jewelry, or other special items you plan to pass on.
It’s all too easy to forget just how importance the INTANGIBLES are.

So what are the intangibles and why do they matter? What makes for a great legacy?

When you share your stories and memories with your loved ones, it helps them to NAVIGATE their OWN lives, and discover values, principles and character traits to ‘try on for size’, enabling them to develop deeper meaning. Enabling them to glean new understandings of – or insight into – what constitutes the fabric of their family heritage. Providing them with powerful clues to the age-old human question, “Who am I?”

You may not think this is important. After all, you’ve lived your life. Nearly do e your dash. But for those who follow, the ability to access an immediately relatable record of the past – YOUR life record – whole new worlds can open. Chains of function or dysfunction can be identified, acknowledged and BUILT UPON or BROKEN; powerful feelings of being CONNECTED to the chain of human experience can emerge; the tone of many generations to come can forever be altered.

What greater peace of mind exists than knowing you have done your bit for posterity whilst enjoying the cathartic walk down memory lane?

Don’t leave your intangible legacy to chance.
For your sake and for that of future generations.
